Author: Ana Huang
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

This book is the fourth in the Kings of Sin series by Ana Huang. This is a billionaire, contemporary romance series, the first three books of which follow three friends that are part of this friend group, and this one follows the fourth, Sloane.
Other people describe Sloane as very icy and rigid. She’s no-nonsense, not much of a romantic, very controlled and a bit of a workaholic. On the other hand, Xavier is in some ways her opposite. His father owns a multi-billion dollar company, and he basically lives on his father’s money and spends his time partying. Sloane has been given the unenviable task of making sure he stays relatively respectable in the press, which causes regular friction between the two.
I generally liked this book. The connection between the characters felt genuine, and I enjoyed the way the author wove the romantic and side plots together, which kept interest in the story outside of the development of the relationship between Sloane and Xavier.
My main criticism of this book is that the falling out Sloane had with her family seemed very contrived. Her family generally seemed like they were being assholes for the sake of it, and that felt a bit lazy. This also made the resolution of Sloane’s side-conflict seem too easy and out of the blue.
Overall, it was a good read, and I would recommend for anyone looking for an absorbing contemporary romance.
